FPR Falcon Feels Magic

29 May 2009

Frosty finishes 3rd extremely happy with his race car

Freezing Tassie temperatures did nothing to cool a scorching performance from Mark Winterbottom and Steve Richards in this afternoon's practice sessions at Symmons Plains.

The Ford Performance Racing duo put the Orrcon Steel and Castrol FPR Falcons third and eighth quickest respectively as the team prepared for tomorrow's V8 Supercar Championship Series racing.

"We're back where I believe FPR should be," said Frosty. "The car was just magic so I'm really looking forward to throwing some new tyres on tomorrow and getting back on track. Richo was up there as well so as a team were both really happy

"The cars are really handling well; I've never been as confident with the car on a Friday night as I am now"

Frosty sat at the top of the time sheets for what seemed like an eternity until Lee Holdsworth and Greg Murphy slotted in ahead of him in the last few minutes.

That did not worry either FPR driver, however, as both used only one set of tyres during the session and so have a complete bank for the weekend's racing.

"We only used one set of tyres the whole session so we knew we'd get jumped at the end when the other guys put their greens on," said Richo. "We made some good progress that session; I was really having a go! On my last run I was another tenth up in the first sector and would have gone faster again if I hadn't locked a tyre at turn four so the car was just great."

The FPR cars will be back on track tomorrow at 11am for race seven's qualifying.
