PRA out for maiden 2016 Win

Frosty looking forward to Tassie Races

Prodrive Racing (Australia)'s Mark Winterbottom will draw on strong car speed from the Grand Prix event when the team lands in Tasmania for the year's first SuperSprint later this week as he aims for his first race win in The Bottle-O Ford.

Winterbottom finished second in race one at the event in 2015, and while PRA has performed well at Symmons Plains previously, the champion believes further improvement is possible.

Cameron Waters will continue his learning journey at the Tasmania event as he aims for consistent top ten finishes in both qualifying and race finishes.

Similar to his experiences the Grand Prix, Waters has not yet raced at the Symmons Plains circuit in a V8 Supercar and believes Friday's two, 60 minute practice sessions will prove vital ahead of the weekend's two race format.

DRIVERS’ VIEW
Mark Winterbottom - #1 The Bottle-O PRA Ford:

"I really like Tassie, it's always been a good event for our team and although it's a small track it's probably one of my favourites. At the Grand Prix we had very good car speed but a few issues as well so if we can use that car speed again and get up the front I think we can race well. Hopefully it's a good weekend for us and we will be trying to get our first win in The Bottle-O colours."

Cameron Waters - #6 Monster Energy PRA Ford:
"I've been to Tassie twice now in Formula Ford so it's another track similar to the Grand Prix, that I've been to but not in a supercar so I'm looking forward to going there and to continue building on what I've learnt at the past two events. The aim for the weekend is to finish and try and be inside the top 10 and continue to learn, that's the main thing."

Tim Edwards – Team Principal:
"Symmons Plains has traditionally been a fairly good track for us. Chaz and Frosty both finished second and were fairly consistent so if we can keep that consistency and get some points on the board we will be in a good position. It's one of the smaller tracks on the calendar but can be challenging as well so we're definitely up for the challenge."

EVENT NAME: Tasmania SuperSprint
DATE: 1 – 3 April
LOCATION: Launceston, Tasmania
EVENT NUMBER: 2 of 15
FORMAT: Friday – 2 x 60-minute practice; Saturday – 1 x 15min practice, 1 x 15min qualifying, 1 x 50 lap race; Sunday – 1 x 20min qualifying, 1 x 84-lap race

CIRCUIT: Symmons Plains
LENGTH: 2.41-kilometres
DESCRIPTION: The circuit’s main features include a banked hairpin corner and a long back straight that should see the Prodrive Racing Fords reach near their maximum speed. The turn four hairpin and left hander at the end of the back straight are the two best passing opportunities. Brakes are worked very hard with two large stops within half a minute of one another. The banking at the hairpin makes for a unique opportunity to line up a good run out of one of the slowest corners on the V8 Supercar calendar.
TRACK RECORD: 51.47s – Rick Kelly, 2009
PRA BEST RESULT: 1st – Mark Winterbottom (2010)
