Double podium in the west

17 May 2014

Frosty finished 4th and 2nd

Ford Pepsi Max Crew has slightly extended its overall points lead with podiums for Frosty and Chaz on the opening day of racing at Barbagallo Raceway in Perth.

Chaz added a third podium in four races with third in the days opening race where he also claimed the fastest race lap.

He was also fastest overall in the repeat 42-lapper and despite finishing slightly lower in sixth, the points gain sees him vault to 12th overall just 10 points off ninth.

Frosty claimed fourth in the opening race and while he was unable to match the superior tyre life of his younger team-mate he more than made up for it in the second race.

Strong strategy and a slick pit stop saw him finish a close second and extend his overall lead to 110 points.

It was not a bad day. My Pepsi Max Crew Ford was not quite there in the first race but good strategy and tyre life meant we could race to fourth which was encouraging. In the second race we had a better set-up but for whatever reason the second set of tyres wasnt quite as good as the first and we couldnt fight like we wanted. On the days you cant win second and fourth is pretty good. To maintain our lead and slightly extend it is a pretty good day.

It was a pretty good day with another podium and sixth. I have already turned my attention to tomorrow as we have a really speedy car and it should be good over the longer distance. If we can just qualify one or two spots better I think it will make all the difference and allow us to contend for the podium. A podium for me and one for Frosty is great for the team.

Tim Edwards Team Principal:
We didnt quite have the ultimate speed in either qualifying or the races today. That said, we made the most of what we had and two podiums, two fastest laps and some impressive work in pit lane is just reward for our efforts. The longer race tomorrow should suit us so along with some tweaks overnight we are confident we can contend again.

DUNLOP SERIES SATURDAY RACE WRAP
Cameron Waters rise up the table was curtailed slightly by a penalty which dropped him from second to an eventual seventh place. Penalised for a pre-race grid infringement he was forced to make a drive-through penalty which dropped him to the rear of the field. Thankfully his pace and strong tyre life allowed him to move through to seventh which will be fourth for tomorrows second and final race.

Cameron Waters - #56 ENZED FPR Ford:
The penalty was a bit harsh but you have to cop those things when you break the rules. It dropped us to 17th but thanks to an awesome car I got back to seventh. That puts us in a good spot for the reverse top 10 so if we win that and make some points back up it will salvage the weekend.
