Red flags make for a difficult practice session

Ford Pepsi Max Crew has ended a red flag-marred opening day of action at Winton without incident as rain also played havoc with conditions. 

Most of the field was unable to complete more than a few laps at a time across the two 75-minute sessions due to a steady flow of red flags caused by cars running off track. 

Will finished fifth in the dryer second session but chose to only run in the final part of the opening session due to the weather. 

Mark ended the 23rd frustrated by the lack of green flag running. 

Earlier in the day Marks co-driver Steve Richards logged laps ahead of the Endurance Cup which starts next month at Sandown.

Ended the day: 23rd   
I stayed on the track and spent the day either heading out onto the track or sitting in the pits after the enormous amount of red flags so I cant say it was overly constructive. Importantly Steve (Richards) was quick in the wet so that was really good to see him so strong on the track.

Will Davison - #6 Pepsi Max FPR Ford:
Ended the day: 5th 
It was a tough day in crazy conditions. Thankfully I kept the car on the black stuff. There was one dry line at the end and crucially we didnt use a second set of tyres like all the guys ahead of me. While we didnt learn a heap the car feels pretty good.

Tim Edwards FPR Team Principal: 
It was a bit of a nothing day today. I dont think Ive ever seen so many red flags in my life at any race track. Unfortunately those delays made it impossible to get into any sort of a rhythm what with the rain and then the drying track and lots of muck on the surface. Hopefully tomorrow will present better conditions.
