Third for Fighting Frosty

Frosty finishes 3rd

Ford Pepsi Max Crews Mark Winterbottom put in a fighting drive to claim a podium finish after a turn one incident almost ruined his day in the 60/60 Super Sprint race of the Ipswich 360.

Mark started fourth and was third by turn three only to be pushed wide after firm contact from behind by Craig Lowndes who would later receive a penalty for the incident.

Despite dropping to sixth and a long way off the lead he worked hard to regain ground before tuning his car in the halftime break and charging through to fall just short of second place.

Team-mate Will held on to finish a solid fifth despite not being happy with the balance and handling of his car.

Mark Winterbottom - #5 Pepsi Max FPR Ford:
Qualifying: 4th
Race 22: 3rd
The first leg was hampered by getting bumped wide at turn three by Craig (Lowndes) and that meant we had to fight really hard to get back to the front. Third was good from where we were. It was a strong recovery from what it was but it could also have been a lot worse. I am actually a little disappointed with Craigs driving in that race. He was pretty dirty in some spots so I am interested to see what they have to say about it as they dont like it when its on the other foot.

Will Davison - #6 Pepsi Max FPR Ford:
Qualifying: 10th
Race 22: 5th
Today again proved what an up and down year we are having. We just consolidated as while we were quick this morning and quite aggressive it didnt quite work in the different conditions of qualifying. We had two clean halves of the race today and did what we could. I know what set-up direction we need to go tomorrow and we scored solid points so it hasnt been too bad a day.

Tim Edwards FPR Team Principal:
There was a lot of feisty driving out there but thankfully we came through it all relatively unscathed. Mark kept his head and recovered well to finish on the podium, while Will and Dave (Reynolds) seemed to be locked together for both parts of the race. Wills start was excellent though well need to work on improving the overall balance of his car to lift him further up tomorrow. We have some work to do but were pretty confident we can make the necessary gains overnight.
