Chaz leads practice at Sydney Motorsport Park

Frosty fast on hard tyres

The Pepsi Max Crew's Chaz Mostert was once again fastest in practice after setting the quickest time of the day on the soft tyre in the second session.

After being further down the order in the first session, both Mark Winterbottom and Chaz Mostert were able to improve their times in the second session, with Chaz finishing just nine tenths off the lap record.

Frosty was pleased by his car's performance, confident he is in a good place ahead of the weekend after battling understeer for the majority of the first session.

In the final co-driver practice before the Sandown 500 next month Cameron Waters finished second quickest in his first outing in a V8 Supercar at the Eastern Creek circuit.

Steve Owen also had a good run in the car, finishing sixth overall.

DRIVERS’ VIEW
Mark Winterbottom - #5 Pepsi Max PRA Ford:
 5th – 1m30.36s
“It was a good day. The car was reacting to changes which was nice. At the end of the day on the hard tyre it was pretty quick. On the leader board we sat a little bit lower than probably where we should be but our hard tyre pace was really quick. I'm looking forward to tomorrow because I'm actually pretty happy with it at the end of the day which hasn't really happened to me on a Friday too much lately. I've normally been disappointed on Friday and then it comes good on Saturday but I feel really good and I've had a good day."

Chaz Mostert - #6 Pepsi Max PRA Ford: 1st – 1m29.90s
“It's good to be up the pointy end at the moment even though I'm not quite happy with the car. We've got a bit of work to do tonight. Usually our hard car is better than our soft car but today our soft car feels better. Hopefully we can make it all a bit happier and make the car suit the track a little bit better and hopefully stay up there for tomorrow."

Tim Edwards – Team Principal:
“Things are looking alright for the rest of the weekend from here. As always we're not completely happy with the car but we're looking quite a bit better than we have in previous years. Chaz has great soft tyre pace and Mark is good on the hards so we'll have to see how that plays out tomorrow."
