Frosty takes podium points

28 March 2015

Pepsi Max Crew has gained its second podium for points in race 4 at the Tasmania SuperSprint after a strong second place finish from Mark Winterbottom in his first podium for 2015.
Frosty was able to hold second position from the start and avoid the unfolding carnage behind him at the hairpin.
He quickly made ground to battle Garth Tander for fifth position in race five but was unable to capitalize.
Chaz Mostert was able to jump to fifth from his starting position in seventh in race four, but was unable to pass Shane van Gisbergen after sitting just tenths of a second behind the kiwi for most of the race.
Chaz managed to qualify 14th for race five, however the young gun was able to make up ground in race five, jumping two spots to finish 12th.

Mark Winterbottom - #5 Pepsi Max PRA Ford:
Qualifying Race 4: 2nd
Result Race 4: 2nd
Qualifying Race 5: 7th
Result Race 5: 6th
“It was a tough day. The car was pretty hard to drive but we still finished second in the first session which was good. It was an interesting day because you really want to qualify well and start the races up the front. We did a good job in the first qualifying session and then I made an error up at the hairpin in the second one so we could have been on the front row again I think but unfortunately didn't quite get there. We are struggling with the car but in saying that we are still up the front so we'll put our heads down tonight and try again and see if we can tune her up and get better. Friday was good but we're losing speed instead of gaining speed so we have a bit of work to do."
Chaz Mostert - #6 Pepsi Max PRA Ford:
Qualifying Race 4: 7th
Result Race 4: 5th
Qualifying Race 5: 14th
Result Race 5: 12th
“The first race went really well; we ended up fifth and got some valuable points. It's a bit scary looking at the championship, we're still a long way behind but we just have to keep finishing strong. We had a bad qualifying session for race five; we qualified 14th but managed to finish twelfth. Tomorrow is really going to count so we'll tune her up tonight, hopefully we can make it turn in qualifying and if we finish inside the top 10 in qualifying we'll be in with a really good shot of the top five again."
Tim Edwards – Team Principal:
“We had quite a good day today. There are a number of things we need to work on with the cars but overall we are definitely headed in the right direction. Even with a few nagging issues it's great to be up the front and for Mark to get the first podium for points on the board for the year. We're after consistency this year and the boys are delivering on that already so it's great."
