Melbourne's 3.1 kilometre Sandown International Raceway has hosted some incredible races over the past three decades. This circuit is best described as two long dragstrips with some some tight hairpin corners in between. It can be treacherous in the wet (or the hail) and very exciting in the dry. It has been a place where I have achieved significant milestones as I made my V8 Supercar debut at the Sandown 500 back in 2003 and gained my first V8 Supercar victory at the Sandown 500 with Jason Bright in 2006. I also finished second overall at this venue in 2008.

Pre-race report

10 September 2013

Racing at Sandown this weekend, our first of three endurance rounds for the year. Richo is my codriver and he is very comfortable in the car of the future. The championship contention is so close and i am excited to be able to have a crack.

Post-race report

15 September 2013

Richo and i sure did ride the roller coaster this weekend, qualified 12th, then worked our way up to 4th in the qualifying races. Richo stalled of the start, then we had great strategy by our engineers to get us back up the front, went in to pit for the last stint and got two cross threaded wheel nuts taking longer than the 25 sec stop to fix, which put us well back in the pack, we tuned the car and looking at the times we were the fastest on the track but had enourmous gaps to close and without any safety cars the best i got to was 6th.
