Melbourne's 3.1 kilometre Sandown International Raceway has hosted some incredible races over the past three decades. This circuit is best described as two long dragstrips with some some tight hairpin corners in between. It can be treacherous in the wet (or the hail) and very exciting in the dry. It has been a place where I have achieved significant milestones as I made my V8 Supercar debut at the Sandown 500 back in 2003 and gained my first V8 Supercar victory at the Sandown 500 with Jason Bright in 2006. I also finished second overall at this venue in 2008.

Pre-race report

20 November 2011

Sandown, a favorite on the calendar, fun track and the best sleeping in my own bed! Looking to carry on our recent form on soft tyres and end the year strongly in order to continue momentum in 2013. We are still fighting for 3rd place with Van Gis and Tander, so that battle will continue this weekend.

Post-race report

20 November 2011

Got it all this weekend, with gear shift problems in qualifying in the wet, one of the wettest races in history, car was good but vision was terrible, fought from 17th to 7th. On Sunday we qualified 2nd in blue skys and raced on softs all day with no hint of rain to finish 2nd, car had understeer, so we still need to improve it, but happy with another double podium and result for FPR and Ford fans. Heading to homebush in 3rd position.
