This 4.5km circuit follows the world famous Surfers Paradise shoreline and is one of the most colourful events of the year in terms of atmosphere. It is a difficult street circuit layout that combines the need for good straightline speed with being able to get in and out of the slowest and narrowest of corners. Panel rubbing and major accidents are par for the course at this major event. Having stated this, I enjoy having a real go at this circuit as the rewards are great, but the price to pay for a mistake, just like any street circuit, can be major.

Pre-race report

18 October 2009

My car has been nicknamed Burnadette, but is looking brand new and is packed and on its way to the Gold Coast. The circuit is a real drivers track, it rewards bravery and skill. For the first time V8's are the main event with 4 x 150km races. The Super GP is now the most demanding event of the year, the heat and physical exertion will be taxing. The new format also places importance on qualifying up the front out of trouble, as the crews will be under pressure.

Post-race report

25 October 2009

Woo Hoo - Go Ford! What a brilliant weekend, two race wins and two suft boards. Im wrapped to be back in the winners circle where we belong. Burnadette was awesome and our speed is promising for the remainder of the year and 2010. Physically i was lucky to make it through today, every bit of my body is aching, but i will rest up and be fighting fit for the Island. Thanks for all your messages, it means a lot to me!
