  • Qual 1st

  • Race 2 4th
Championship 6th

The least technical of all the circuits that we compete at, Queensland Raceway rewards strong mid corner speed and traction (grip) out of the corners. The 3.1km layout basically consists of four right and two left corners with four straights - two short and two long, in between. I won at this venue in 2008.

Pre-race report

16 August 2009

Ipswich is the home track for a number of teams so that can be a challenge, but I have good memories of winning this round last year and will be doing everything i can to get my Orrcon FPR falcon up the pointy end where it belongs. Ipswich will be similar to Darwin's tyre wear so when we choose to use our soft tyres is critical. This is the final race before the endurance rounds, giving us our last chance to get on top of everything. I look forward to seeing all the Queensland Ford fans flying their flags at Ipswich.

Post-race report

23 August 2009

Woo Hoo this was our best round so far, finally we had a consistent weekend. We are on target with the car setup which showed in qualifying, Saturday saw  six thousands of a second between Whincup and I starting 1-2, in the race i had to pit early as i couldnt see due to the oil that was sprayed all over my screen, this wasn't the ideal strategy and meant we had to stay on our soft tyres all race, we recovered well to finish 3rd. We showed great pace and confidence in our car grabbing pole position on Sunday, a very well deserved effort. We didnt have anything left on our soft tyres which was going to be a challenge as other cars had good softs, we had excellent pace until 5 laps to go where i had an oil pressure issue, managing to hold on to 4th position. We are moving forward in the championship and i'm really excited.
