Drivers View Perth

We’re travelling in the right direction. Perth for us is a very good event notoriously but it’s going to be tough. There’re quick cars this year but the strategy and using the tyre at the right time and all the little bits of experience that you can lean on will work quite well with Perth. It’s nice to go to a track that you have confidence at. Hopefully it’ll be good for us again.”

Mark Winterbottom – #5 The Bottle-O PRA Ford:
Practice 1: 15th – 56.57s
Practice 2: 4th – 55.09s
“I’m pretty happy with fourth. The car is pretty much there but tomorrow’s practice session will be important. There are a few little things that we need to look at to make the tyre last a little bit longer compared to the other guys in the team but we have a pretty good idea of what we need to do. The car is competitive so if we can make it that little bit better again it’ll be good.”

Mark Winterbottom – #5 The Bottle-O PRA Ford:
Qualifying: 6th – 55.11s
Race 7: 5th
“We had p5 pace today and we finished p5 and that pretty much sums up our day. The two Penske cars are ridiculously fast in front. We were the best of the rest almost with the Triple Eight cars. We all ran about the same. We went longer in the first stint and they (Chaz) went shorter but you end up in the same position. We need to work on speed. Our tyre life isn’t the drama it’s just the half a second a lap that we’re not quick enough. We’ll try and tune it up but it’s good to get a top five result again. We’re starting to show some consistency and we know we’re heading in the right direction.”

Mark Winterbottom – #5 The Bottle-O PRA Ford:
Qualifying: 3rd – 54.6243s
Race 8: 4th
“The car was pretty good but we struggled with rear grip for a lot of the race. We’ve made a lot of ground this weekend which is really positive. Changes overnight in strategy direction, going back to sort of what we had before Phillip Island helped today and has given us a good direction heading into Winton. Fourth is another strong result, I’m happy we’ve got some consistency going and that we’re making gains so bring on the next one.”
