Waters proves pace

Slow pit stop puts Frosty back

Prodrive Racing (Australia) has finished with both cars in the top ten in what was a race full of on-track battles in the new format Saturday race at Symmons Plains.

The Bottle-O Racing Team's Mark Winterbottom started on pole for race four to lead for the first nine laps before falling down the field in the pit stop.

Despite the fall to seventh after the stop, Winterbottom was pleased with the race overall in which he and teammate Cameron Waters battled hard at the hairpin.

Waters was able to pass Winterbottom towards the end of the race to finish seventh overall, a result that sees him elevated to fourth in the championship after two rounds.

DRIVERS’ VIEW
Mark Winterbottom - #1 The Bottle-O PRA Ford:
Qualifying:
 1st
Race 4: 9th
"The race today wasn't too bad but it was the pit stop that hurt us the most. The car had really good pace at the start of the day. I was really happy with where we were at and to get our first pole position for the year as well was fantastic but obviously it wasn't the way we wanted the race to go. We'll look at what we can do overnight but our qualifying car was fantastic so we'll start there and put ourselves in a good position tomorrow."

Cameron Waters - #6 Monster Energy PRA Ford:
Qualifying:
 11th
Race 4: 7th
"We had a pretty good day. Obviously qualifying didn’t go to plan, I locked the front on the quickest lap so instead of starting probably fourthish I started 12th. We had a pretty good race car that looked after its tyres and I had a good battle with Frosty at the end but it's just hard when you're racing your teammate, you have to take a little bit more caution. My car was good but hopefully we can start a little bit further up the front tomorrow and see if we can maximise it a little bit more."

Tim Edwards – Team Principal:
"We didn't quite end up where we wanted after starting the race on pole but to have both Mark and Cam in the top ten is fantastic. As always there'll be a few things to look at after that one but we know where we need to improve and we know what we'll have to do for tomorrow. The reality is that we had a good enough car to qualify on pole and Cam's pace was good during the race with Frosty not too far off him so we'll take those positives and work to qualify well again tomorrow."
