Frosty and Cam fastest in practice

Prodrive Racing (Australia)'s Mark Winterbottom and Cameron Waters have lead the charge in practice at the Tasmania SuperSprint, setting the two fastest times for the day.

In a field of mixed tyre qualities, Frosty and Cam finished eighth and 10th respectively in the first session in windy and cold conditions.

Little movement was seen in the field at the start of the second, hour long session, before a green, soft tyre run saw the pair jump to the top of the table with just seconds remaining.

In what was his first attempt at the track since his last Formula Ford hit-out in 2010, Waters believes he has comfortably re-acclimatised to the track in his Ford FG X.

Despite a successful outing in practice, the pair still believe further improvements can be made ahead of qualifying tomorrow.

DRIVERS’ VIEW
Mark Winterbottom - #1 The Bottle-O PRA Ford:
1st – 51.422s
"The car was really good. It's a little bit tricky on tyres because we rolled out on a set of hard tyres and they were warm ups and the car was actually really good and then we put better hards on and It was horrible, and then we put softs on and it was better so you're just going on tyre quality. The way the format is now, you get the new set at the end of the day which everyone puts on and the car was actually quite good. I was a bit of a lone ranger out there by myself, I didn't get the big tow down the back straights and stuff but it was just nice to get on with it and have a car that is reacting to changes."

Cameron Waters - #6 Monster Energy PRA Ford: 2nd – 51.471s
"It was good. I still remember the track, there're only six corners so it's pretty easy to remember. It's a little bit different, obviously, in a V8 Supercar so in practice one it took me a little while to work out where to brake and change gears and stuff but I managed to pick it up pretty quickly and the car was pretty good so I'm happy to be second today."

Tim Edwards – Team Principal:
"It was great to see both Frosty and Cam up the front at the end of today's session. For Cam in particular, he set a great time and to be ahead of our closest competitors is fantastic. The reality is that it is still only practice and the conditions could drastically change for tomorrow so we'll have a look at all of our options, try and see if we can't get Chaz and Chris further up the field as well and roll out tomorrow. It's tough here with such a small margin encompassing the field but you have to work to the conditions and that's what we'll do."
