Frosty 2nd at Puke

2nd in practice

Pepsi Max Crew's Mark Winterbottom narrowly missed claiming top spot on Friday at the ITM 500 Auckland after being pipped by local hero Scott McLaughlin in the final moments of the day’s second one-hour practice session at Pukekohe Park Raceway.

Frosty enjoyed a consistent day of both race set-up and qualifying simulation development and sat just 0.1-seconds off the lead.

Cam Waters made his solo driver debut and acquitted himself well, finishing seventh and 14th as he continued to learn to set-up the car and the circuit which he is visiting for the first time in a V8 Supercar.

Mark Winterbottom - #5 Pepsi Max PRA Ford: 2nd – 1m03.33s
“We had a busy day of setting the car up and trying not to overuse the tyres. We developed our race set-up really well on older tyres, and then we had pretty good pace on the qualifying set-up so everyone has done a good job, kept calm and had a productive day.”

Cameron Waters - #6 Pepsi Max PRA Ford: 14th – 1m03.77s
“I was pretty happy how we rolled out. We were competitive and finished the first session in seventh which was great for my first in a V8 Supercar around Pukekohe. We made a few changes for the second session which improved the car, but everyone else did the same. The red flag came out at the wrong time as I was into my qualifying simulation. That meant I didn’t get the most out of it so to have some time up my sleeve is a good thing so we can build on things for tomorrow.”

Tim Edwards – Team Principal:
“We are happy with how our day turned out. The weather was ideal for practice and we got through our programs as planned so we’ve given ourselves the best possible chance to prepare for Saturday’s twin tyre compound format.”
