Chaz claims Sunday win

2 August 2015

Frosty 3rd and Chaz 1st at Ipswich

The Pepsi Max Crew has taken a clean-sweep of the Coates Hire Ipswich SuperSprint with Mark Winterbottom and Chaz Mostert winning all three races.

Chaz Mostert won his third race for the year after winning his eighth pole position for race 20, taking out the Sunday race win at Queensland Raceway.

Mostert made a fantastic start over teammate Mark Winterbottom from pole and gained a considerable lead over Craig Lowndes who finished in second.

Winterbottom was unable to hold onto his second place starting position but maintained third place for the remainder of the race to finish on the podium.

DRIVERS’ VIEW
Mark Winterbottom - #5 Pepsi Max PRA Ford:

Race 20 Quali: 2nd
Race 20 Result: 3rd
"Today was tough. We had a few little issues and stuff but when the car isn't quite 100% you try and make good days. Third on the podium is a really good result. Cool to see Chazzie win too. All in all it was a good day. The start for me wasn't great. It threw it up a bit and once you start spinning you're cactus so I tried to get across and block the line at that worked out well but it was a good result. The car got strange in that second stint. We didn't go long enough on the soft in the first stint and that cost us track position but when we put the hards on something was going a bit funky but when they tell you it's like 50 something to go you just hope it gets home, you don't care about the speed. You just want to make sure the wheels and everything stay on it. Good to get home and good to get points."

Chaz Mostert - #6 Pepsi Max PRA Ford:
Race 20 Quali: 1st
Race 20 Result: 1st
"It was fantastic to get the start. The wind kind of helped the start for me at turn two so it's cool to get off the line today and actually use the pole position to my advantage and the car just ran faultlessly. It was really good on the hard tyre. Probably needs a tune up a little bit on the soft tyre but the car was great all day."

Tim Edwards – Team Principal
"What a great way to end the weekend. It was great to see Chaz get back on the top step and for the team to win all three races. The guys are doing well and the cars are fantastic. It's a credit to the team, we're all working really well together and it's showing. We have a great group of people and we wouldn't be where we are without them."

DUNLOP SERIES – IPSWICH  SUNDAY WRAP
Cameron Waters was able to put himself back on the podium in race three of the Dunlop Series round at Queensland Raceway after a re-start penalty from race two put him back to start 11th. Waters was able to pick his way through the field throughout the 19 lap race to finish third and take the win for the weekend while extending his championship lead to 173 points over Paul Dumbrell. Waters will now wait until Bathurst to return to the #5 ENZED PRA Ford, but will participate in co-driver practice at the Sydney Motorsport Park in August.

Cameron Waters - #5 ENZED PRA Ford: 1st
"I was a little annoyed about the decision from race two, I didn't really deserve a penalty I don't think but it is what it is and I still got the points from race two which is good. I started 11th for race three today and my start wasn't that good but I made up positions pretty quick so I picked my way through the field and managed to get up to third. I pushed a bit but the tyres blew out a little bit so I gave them a few laps break and pushed right at the end and got on the back of PD (Paul Dumbrell) but I made a small mistake and turn two. Pretty happy to still get third from back in 11th and win the weekend."
