Mostert musters another podium

21 June 2015

Dave 1st, Chaz 2nd, frosty 5th

The Pepsi Max Crew has enjoyed a top weekend of racing in the Top End with a podium and extended points leading capping the weekend as stable-mate David Reynolds claimed victory.

Chaz Mostert started fourth and drove a clean, sensible race to second to give Prodrive Racing its second 1-2 of the weekend.

Series leader Mark Winterbottom did not have the ultimate pace but drove sensibly to fifth to open up a 95-point lead at the head of the standings.

The results and issues for key rivals see Chaz jump to fourth and the lead in the team points extend to more-than 160.

Mark Winterbottom - #5 Pepsi Max PRA Ford:
Qualifying:
6th
Race 15: 5th
"I wasn’t quick enough in the first stint as the new tyre was really bad for my car. The second stint on hards improved by the end and the final part was actually reasonable. I was going to try and achieve my speed a certain way but the set-up just didn’t work for me today. It is working for Dave and Chaz so I need to look at things. It was a great result for the team, a good weekend for the points but my car speed needs to improve as I am a bit behind where I want to be.”

Chaz Mostert - #6 Pepsi Max PRA Ford:
Qualifying:
 4th
Race 15: 2nd
"It has been a fantastic weekend for car six. The guys at the team have given us all a great car that we’ve been able to qualify well and race strongly. This was a track I thought would be a weakness but after this weekend we’ve turned it into a strength. I caught Dave after he went off but because of the aero wash my tyres started to degrade a bit faster. His pace was impressive in the closing laps but he has done an awesome job this weekend and now we’ll have to look at his data and work out why he was so quick!”

Tim Edwards – Team Principal
"I think it was as much a relief as anything for Dave and his crew to get a win today as it has been a long time between drinks. He fully deserved the win, he drove more than 40 laps on softs which shouldn’t really be possible but his pace was genuine and he’s delivered on the flashes off form we’ve seen this season. To finish the weekend with the lead of both standings, two wins, a second, third and a pole is a big credit to everyone. Townsville in a couple of weeks will be a big test but tonight we’ll enjoy this before we get back to work.”
