Frosty fast In cold conditions

28 March 2015

Prodrive Racing Australia's Mark Winterbottom and Chaz Mostert have impressed once again at the Tasmania SuperSprint, each taking out p1 in the first and second practice sessions.
Rain put a dampener on the first session but was unable to stop Mostert who raced to the top of the table in a last-lap dash.
Winterbottom made the most of dry conditions, making a number of setup changes throughout the second session.
The day's two, hour long sessions were beneficial according to Winterbottom, who believes the longer times allow drivers to fully assess how the changes made in setup affect their car.
DRIVERS’ VIEW
Mark Winterbottom - #5 Pepsi Max PRA Ford:
“The car felt quite good in those sessions. It's hard to tell what tomorrow is going to bring but today was wet and cold so it could be much the same. That last session was quite tricky, there was oil all over the track so you try to compromise your position a bit but you have to try and get a good, clean run and set the car up the way you want. The car was reacting well to the changes we were making which was nice. Tomorrow's going to be intense, there's only going to be on tenth of a second separating pole and the middle-runners so Symmons Plains is one of the toughest places but one of the most rewarding for that reason."
Chaz Mostert - #6 Pepsi Max PRA Ford:
“The first run was pretty good in the wet. It was pretty exciting and good to be out in the wet in the FG X for the first time but everything felt pretty good with it. In the second session we had our first real run in the dry and had a few issues with the car but I'm not 100% sure of what happened there. The car still felt ok when we finally got a lap in the end but I still under drove it a bit but we'll go and look at the data, make some improvements, put some better tyres on it tomorrow and see how we go."
Tim Edwards – Team Principal:
“Having the two long sessions was great because we were able to make the most of our time. Unfortunately Chaz missed out on most of the second session but still did an alright job. Overall we're fairly happy, hopefully we get dry conditions for both races tomorrow and replicate what we did today."
