Chaz finishes 3rd and frosty 6th

Ford Pepsi Max Crew’s Chaz Mostert has continued his strong run of form at Queensland Raceway with a superb drive to the podium.

Chaz dropped ground early in the final race before mounting a charge which lifted him from the back end of the top 10 all the way to the rostrum.
His recovery was even more impressive given his pace faded in the opening race which saw him drop to 14th by the chequered flag.
Championship leader Frosty recorded a pair of sixth places after recovering from lower than expected qualifying results.
Like Chaz, he was far stronger in the final race where he moved from 13th to sixth, which likely would have been fifth if not for questionable driving from an opponent.

“It seems to be the story of the last few events that we fight back through the field. In the second race we were much better. I got screwed over a bit at the start as a car went off and the field concertinaed when it re-joined and I lost any ground I made up. We just salvaged what we could from there. If we got past Rick (Kelly) earlier we might’ve got to fourth place but we did as well as we could. It could’ve been bad today but we salvaged something. Tomorrow we have to qualify high up the field and just charge on.”
Chaz Mostert - #6 Pepsi Max FPR Ford:

Qualifying Race 24: 7th
Result Race 24: 3rd
“I can’t believe how much better we made the car in the second race. I wasn’t quick off the line but our pace remained consistent throughout and we picked cars off rapidly and in the later stages we had a lot of pace. The top two cleared out but if we start further up tomorrow and use the pit stops to our advantage I think we can mix it at the front. We just need to use the tyres better tomorrow.”
Tim Edwards – Team Principal:
“A podium was a nice surprise given where we qualified but Chaz deserves it for making the improvements to his set-up and driving smartly. He learned a lot in race one and put it into practice in race two to great effect so well done to him and his crew. Qualifying again didn’t produce the results we wanted but our relative gap was closer so while there is a lot to work through tonight we are confident we can make another step forward and use our strategies and pit stop advantage as we have all year in the longer races.”
