Frosty fires at home

Frosty wins race 9!

Ford Pepsi Max Crew has claimed its first win of the season with a dominant drive from Mark Winterbottom on home soil at Winton Motor Raceway.

Frosty, now second in the championship, qualified fourth and was third by the first turn before eventually moving through to the lead.

From there he pulled away and despite some pressure from Fabian Coulthard ahead of his final stop, he was able to claim a comfortable victory.

The team enjoyed its strongest race overall with stable-mate David Reynolds and Chaz Mostert finishing fifth and sixth Reynolds gaining five places, Chaz nine from their original grid slots.

Chazs performance was particularly impressive as he matched Winterbottoms pace for much of the race as he passed many of the key title challengers.

Mark Winterbottom - #5 Pepsi Max FPR Ford:
Qualifying: 4th
Result: 1st
That was awesome. The tyres were a bit different in every stint but my Pepsi Max Ford was so hooked up I was strong all day. At the end I just managed the gap and it is a really good result for us. It was nice to enjoy the closing laps with such a big lead and it was great to share such an important home win with all the fans. To get a win with my new engineer Grant (McPherson) is a big confidence boost and this weekend we worked really closely and this success will provide great confidence throughout the team and pays everyone back for their hard work.

Chaz Mostert - #6 Pepsi Max FPR Ford:
Qualifying: 15th
Result: 6th
It was fantastic for the team to win today and the result is a great reward for everyone. My Ford was a rocket ship and we went from 15th to sixth which is credit to the guys working on my car. We had a bit of an up and down weekend but today we were quick and it wouldve been good if we qualified higher as we couldve contended for the podium. I feel weve learnt quite a bit this weekend and heading to New Zealand I think we will be in contention there if we sort out our qualifying pace.

Tim Edwards Team Principal:
Today capped a great weekend and one which has put us back in contention and highlighted the united effort weve all put in recently. To win at home and to do so in the fashion we did and in front of so many Ford fans is very rewarding. Chaz was impressive today and Dave was very methodical and measured all weekend.
