Trouble free day in Tassie

6 April 2013

7th in practice

Ford's Pepsi Max Crew enjoyed a trouble-free day in Tasmania with some positive long-run pace at the fast Symmons Plains layout.

The team used both hard and soft compound tyres but most pleasing was their pace on worn soft tyres.

Mark topped opening practice and along with Will, the pair was the best of the factory Ford team's quartet.

They are confident adjustments overnight will have them challenging at the head of the order in both qualifying and tomorrow's split race.

Mark Winterbottom - #5 Pepsi Max FPR Ford:
Ended the day: 7th
"The first session didn't give us much though it was good to have the extra time to go through a few things. In the other sessions we weren't quite happy with things but it was only a bit of rear tyre locking into the hairpin so if we can sort that we will have quite a competitive car. We'll look at things and go over the data tonight and given we only need gains in one area it should make a big difference if we can tidy it up."

Will Davison - #6 Pepsi Max FPR Ford:
Ended the day: 12th
"Our tyre bank meant we didn't quite show what we had today so we spent most of the day working on other areas of the car. We learnt quite a bit in the final session of the day and overall the car balance is pretty good. No doubt we have some lap time we need to find but with a few tweaks tomorrow should look much better."

Tim Edwards FPR Team Principal:
"It was a usual issue-free practice day and the drivers are pretty happy with what they achieved today so we are looking forward to the new challenge of the 60/60 Super Sprint. You don't need a lot of time around here to make a big gain so we'll all be chasing a few tenths overnight."
