Post-race report
21 February 2010
Yas Marina Circuit Abu Dhabi was an incredible place to begin the 2010 V8 Supercar Season. The FPR Orrcon Steel Falcon may look the same on the outside, but 99% of the components are different, this makes it new to drive and i have to adapt my style to suit. We qualified well in 3rd, in Race 1 the car was good, i launched off the start to the lead but had to serve a 10 second penalty for not lining up correctly, we played chase up all race to finish 3rd right behind the leaders. Pole position for Race 2, after a rotor issue keeping us in the pits, I went out knowing I had one lap to do it, I had cold front but hot rear brakes, I got more confident as the lap went on and had the quickest third sector all weekend. In Race 2 I had a vibration through the brake and a bit too much oversteer, all part of the learning process of a new car, on the start grid I was being given directions to move the newly installed sway bars and i was concentrating on that instead of the start. Car is straight with a load of points, something mark has never achieved, all in all a very solid weekend.
