This is an excellent racing circuit that has a bit of everything, from fast straights, to tight turns and long radius corners. At only 2.4km in length, it is deceptively difficult to get absolutely right and in past years has caught out some of the best drivers in its hungry sand traps. As the only major motor racing event in Perth, huge crowd numbers support the event and it is usually produces great races. I won this event in 2008 - its a beauty.

Pre-race report

We are up to the second last round of the year, how quickly has this year gone, i want to finish it off on a high note. I'm concerned about the track condition, hot temperature will mean low grip, so it will be a challenge to get a good handling car. It is great news that Barbagallo may get a $5m upgrade by the government as the track has a lot of character and i enjoy racing on it. Looking forward to seeing all you passionate WA Ford fans, lets win again this year.

Post-race report

Another up and down weekend, we struggled with understeer all day Friday and Saturday morning. I qualified 6th, put softs on late in race 1 and came through to finish 3rd, was good to be on the podium.We got the car handling better on Sunday and qualified 2nd, I was really happy with my pace early in the race, until the safety car, the rear tyres that went on were used tyres which gave me massive oversteer and a bad handling car. On better tyres we would have finished 5th or there abouts, frustrating day.
