Race results

Hidden Valley, Darwin

19-21 June 2009

  • Qual 6th
  • Race 1 2nd
  • Race 2 17th
Championship 8th

This is a very fast circuit with the longest straight in the series, taking up 1.1km of the circuit's 2.9 km length. The actual circuit layout is not overly difficult, but the tropical heat - even in mid winter, makes this without a doubt one of the toughest races on the calendar. I won this round last year and have had some great races in Darwin, so it is up there with my best.

Pre-race report

14 June 2009

Cant wait to get up to Darwin and thaw out after the freezing melbourne weather, this is definitely one of my favorite rounds, it feels like a holiday and racing in one. This weekend I'm going to take an approach that allows me to finish races, as i haven't been finishing enough races lately. FPR had their first ever 1-2 in 2008 at Darwin, so we have been working on carrying that speed over to the FG. This is the first track we have gone to with temperatures above 30 degrees so i will be interested to see how the soft tyre holds up.

Post-race report

21 June 2009

Up one day down the next. Race 1 was good, finishing 2nd, we had good pace and a reasonable car. We worked on it overnight, the track did change for Sundays qualifying it didn't have as much grip, but we managed to get 3rd. I didn't have the pace in the race, i was struggling for engine speed, something isn't right. Really tough day.
