Without a doubt the most exciting event on the V8 Supercar Calendar, most of the 3.2km layout is a shortened version of the former Australian Formula One Grand Prix street circuit. Renowned as one of the best street circuits in the world after its 11 year tenure as the home of the Grand Prix, the fast layout leaves absolutely no room for errors. This circuit's concrete barriers have on many an occasion provided a stark reminder to V8 Supercar drivers of just how hard it can bite if mistakes are made. Often the scene of titanic V8 Supercar battles, this circuit and record public attendances makes it the jewel in the crown of V8 Supercar racing in Australia and one of the biggest domestic sporting events in the country.

Pre-race report

Heading in to Round 1 at Clipsal with a new race car and a little over a month's break is exciting. The guys at FPR have done a fantastic job putting the car together, with lots of long late nights at the workshop. It's a brand new shell and a bit different to my old car but the test day proved it was good to drive and I look forward to seeing how it goes at Adelaide. This round is the most physical round of the season and my preparation over the break has been better than ever, with Richo and I just completing a week long fitness camp.

Post-race report

Qualifying 3rd put us in a good spot to fight for the race wins, being up the front makes all the difference at Adelaide; you can normally stay out of trouble and you have to pass less cars so your brakes don't get too hot. Our pit stops were fantastic and we were up the front all weekend, which is credit to the FPR guys who built the car. The weather which is usually 40 degrees stayed cool enough to make driver comfort levels ideal. Overall it was not the finish to the weekend we wanted, but we came away with some good points and some great signs of what is to come this season.
